FROM THE EAST
Brethren, I am proud to say it has been
both a wonderful and busy year so far for Potomac Lodge.
We have conferred Master Mason degrees on 10 Brothers
and have 6 more pending when lodge reopens in September.
We were fortunate enough to enjoy fellowship with the
Grand Master and many of his officers on several occasions
during recent months. We also had the distinct honor
of awarding one 70 year, and six 50 year service award
pins. Potomac Lodge is an enjoyable place to meet and
is quickly becoming an icon of Masonry in Western Maryland
only because of the dedicated individuals who are making
us great.
I wanted to take this opportunity to
thank the brethren who joined us in lodge this year
and especially to my officers, Past Masters, and visiting
Brothers who have helped me personally. I have had a
full schedule and would not have been able to keep the
Lodge running accordingly without your assistance. I
am especially grateful to my Senior Warden, PM Frank
Eberly, and my Treasurer, PM Gene Purkey, who went above
and beyond the call of duty by helping me conduct meetings,
and who handled many problems when I was not available
to address them.
I wish everyone the very best, and hope
you have a safe and enjoyable summer with family and
friends. See you in September.
If you have any questions, please come
to Lodge or contact me at (301) 707-7337.

THOUGHTS
FROM THE DEPUTY GRAND LECTURER
Brethren, we have been busy through
the month of July practicing for our return to duty
in September. We will be keeping the same schedule through
August with the hope that the new air-conditioner will
be installed and running by the second week. To those
who have braved the warm climate in the lodge during
our training, I truly appreciate your patience.
All three of the Cumberland lodges have
a moderate load for the fall season and I am glad to
see the working cooperation between the officers of
the three lodges.
The Grand Lodge summer schools of instruction
in Hagerstown, Brunswick, and Hancock have been well
attended with an average of 40 plus members in attendance.
Our Grand Master attends these schools and often comments
on the upturn that he sees in new membership as well
as the quality of our ritual in western Maryland.
I look forward to your attendance and
participation for the rest of the year.

THOUGHTS
FROM THE SECRETARY
Since our last Trestleboard, we have
elected and installed a permanent secretary. Joe Jefcoat
has agreed to accept the position. We should all welcome
Joe’s youth, enthusiasm, and dedication.
We still have 15 Brothers
who have not paid their 2007 dues. If you don’t
have a tan 2007 membership card in your wallet, please
take time to send in your payment. Our dues are $45.00
per year, the lowest of any Lodge in Cumberland. In
order to save postage, we have included the 2008 dues
notice, with arrears dues notice if applicable, with
a return envelope.
In September, our Trestleboard will be on our website,
www.afampotomaclodge100.org.
With the increase in postage a copying costs, the lodge
is spending about $300 per quarter to produce the Trestleboard.
We hope that most of you will agree to viewing it on
our website. The online Trestleboard will be updated
at least once a month, while the printed version will
be mailed once a quarter. Those who opt for the internet
version will be notified via email every time it is
updated.
In October, you will be able to pay
your dues online via Paypal. A guide to updating your
personal lodge profile is included on page 4. This must
be done prior to 09/01/07. Your profile is security-protected
and only available to lodge officers or other brothers
if you agree.
If you have any questions or concerns,
please call me at 240-727-8103 or email me at oryguneast@yahoo.com.
